Our organization aims to help high school students build their leadership skills so that when they graduate, they are ready to take on responsibilities in their communities, their nations, and the world. The Youth Leadership Program’s aim is to bring young scholars who have already demonstrated leadership skills together and help them prepare for college and beyond. We are determined to empower young leaders with the skills necessary to prepare them to lead through service and without fear. This program aims to discover the problems facing this generation, and to come up with solutions. We believe young people are agents of change and peace, who will greatly impact their communities and the world. They are tomorrow’s leaders. We offer two programs, one focused on learning through history and reflection and one focused on learning through service:

Peace Builders Program

The Peace Builders Program is designed to facilitate high school students in learning from Rwanda’s history by touring memorial sites and engaging in thoughtful discussions about peace, justice and social conflicts. The groups take on challenging topics, such as bullying in their own lives, and are invited to discuss, debate, present, and write on these issues. Rising juniors and seniors in high school, students who have shown strong interest in peace and who are involved in school and community, are encouraged to apply. It is our wish to encourage students to travel for learning purposes and to strive to positively impact the world. Our program focuses on helping students to live a life of integrity, humility, and healthy practices to build peaceful lives and peaceful communities.

Service Leadership Program

This three week program brings rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors in high school together and teaches them to be leaders through service to others. Accepted students to the program learn by experience and help Global Survivors for Peace care for elderly people, widows, and underserved students. An important part of the Service Leadership Program is to assist other students from low-income families to prepare for SAT and TOEFL tests, thus helping them to attend colleges in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Our aim is to help these students, who often do not have the preparation necessary for SAT and TOEFL tests, to access the schools they wish to attend. The participants of the Service Leadership Program and Global Survivors for Peace work together with the community, helping the most vulnerable among us.
