After the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, many people in Rwanda were left without financial or social safety nets. Their livelihoods which they had worked so hard to create were destroyed in violence, and their loved ones were killed. For older generations, this was not the first time they experienced such devasting loss. For young ones, the repercussions of genocide have marked their entire lives, and often left them in precarious economic situations. Global Survivors for Peace is committed to empower children and the elderly through sponsorship, so they can live with dignity again.
Sponsor a Child
The children of Rwanda, or those who flee from atrocities around the globe, are in great need of support from sponsors who can make a difference in their lives. The Sponsor a Child program focuses on offering services and financial support to empower the children of survivors, who inherited poverty due to wars and genocides. Our organization strives to empower them with dignity, and we call on you to give a gift to a child on a monthly basis that will change their life forever.
We collect all donations designated for the Sponsor a Child program and use it in different communities toward education, clean water, basic school supplies, and basic needs. Your donation helps children in the most vulnerable communities to feel secure, to reach medical help, and prevent diseases connected to malnutrition. Your donation brings a smile to the faces of children in need and helps them to believe in their right to live with dignity, to dream, and to seek a brighter future.
Sponsor an elderly
Many elderly people were left without their children and the fruits of their lifetimes of labor after the genocide. Some live alone and do not have direct family or relatives to care for them. Please join Global Survivors for Peace in its mission to empower the elderly, show them love, and help them continue to live in dignity.
Global Survivors for Peace assist elders who do not have anyone else to help them. Often, they do not have the means to fulfill their basic needs, such as cooked meals or medical support. Our organization, through your sponsorship, partners with local organizations to assist them with their everyday needs in compassionate ways. We help them access health care by contributing to the required community-based health insurance in Rwanda. Your generous monthly support or one-time gift will be greatly appreciated by the elder, their community, and our organization.
